Detroit – In the new 2018 Lexus LS is incredibly much performance, incredibly much engineering performance, almost everything is completely new to him, much better and all that you can think of is this incredibly huge grill. But somehow you have to notice, in the end, if you want to attack against the clashing German luxury competition for Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7 and (the new Audi A8). And for Lexus it is really the highest railroad, after all, the current LS – at least in its basic form – has been running since 2006. 90 kilos lighter
It all starts with the platform. The new LS with the recently introduced Sportcoupé LC splits the so-called GA-L-base frame, but the chassis for the luxury limo is stretched properly, the wheelbase grows to gigantic 3.13 meters. Lexus promises that the new platform will provide a deeper focus and centralize the mass. High-strength steels and aluminum reduce the weight by about 90 kilos. Reinforcements in the engine compartment and stiffer axle brackets should provide additional stiffness. All this should make the new LS noticeably more agile and dynamic.
2018 Lexus LS Powertrain : New Twin-Turbo V6
The only driving source for the start is a new 3.5-liter Twin-Turbo V6 with 415 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque. In the new LS, it is based on a 10-speed automatic transmission (also known as the new BMW-6 competitor LC) show the 0-60 mph (0-97 km / h) with 4.5 seconds. For an increase in driving dynamics, the engineers are also taking a deep turn into the chassis trickbox. Active stabilizers, an air suspension and a rear wheel steering are to be optionally available for the rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive LS.
Largest head-up display in the world
Other technical highlights include a gigantic 24-inch head-up display (Lexus the world’s largest), a kind of “entry mode” for air suspension that lowers the car and opens the seat cheeks, as well as actively steered pedestrian detection , The pedestrians in the lane and in an emergency around the same turns, without leaving the trail.
Longer and clearer
The new Lexus LS also makes a big leap forward. The car is longer (5.23 meters), wider (1.90 meters) and above all significantly flatter (1.45 meters) than before. As a result of the increase in length and the lower arrangement of the passengers, the much more coupé-like line is also possible without affecting the head space in the rear. Six instead of four windows to date underline the drop shape of the roof line. In front, there are wing-shaped LED headlights and the above-mentioned XXL chrome grill, the rear is the LS at new taillights with L signature.
New LS interior
The interior has made Lexus organically shaped. Wood, metal, leather and the now typical ambient lighting should ensure a high-quality interior feel. The dashboard is equipped with a 12.3-inch touch screen with improved display and the so-called Lexus Remote Touch Control Interface, which now also responds to handwritten inputs. An active noise suppression is series. The LS also uses the complete range of the latest Lexus assistance systems. The optional interior features include a 3D Mark Levinson sound system with loudspeakers in the roof truss and 28-way adjustable front seats with heating, ventilation and shiatsu massage function. All this is also available on the chairs in the rear, which can also be equipped with a footrest. The rear seat behind the driver’s seat also has a backrest adjustment and can be moved upwards to facilitate the exit.
