New Audi RS5 2018 debuts in Geneva 2017
Audi Sport (the quattro GmbH is history) has had a lot of time, but seven years after the debut of the first generation, it is finally here debuts in Geneva 2017: Welcome with the brand-new Audi RS5 2018. As the Ingolstädter proclaim proudly, you remember new BMW M4 opponents to the great Audi 90 Quattro IMSA-GTO racing car.

New Twin-Turbo V6 with 444 horsepower and 600 Newtonmeter
Much more decisive are other things anyway: For the first time an Audi RS5 will not have a V8 vacuum cleaner under the hood. Many will find it very unfortunate, but if you look at the data of the new 2.9-liter Twin-Turbo V6 (a complete new development incidentally), it should be over with the anger quickly. Well, with 444 horsepower the performance remains the same, but the torque increases to 600 Newtonmeter. They are a lot more than 170 newton meters. And all these newton meters are already available starting at 1,900 tours. The new 2018 Audi RS5 also sprints from 0-100 km / h in 3.9 seconds and creates a top speed of 280 km / h. The predecessor needed 4.6 seconds. In addition, he swallowed 10.8 liters in average, the RS5 2018 should get along with 8.7 liters.
60 kilos lighter
Now one could argue: driving and consumption were for most customers certainly not the problem on the old car. Rather, the first RS5 always seemed a bit too heavy and never really exciting to drive. At least for a car carrying an RS shield on its back. The new RS5 could be a remedy, after all, it has become 60 kilos lighter. Optionally there is now also a carbon roof, which should destroy a few more kilos. All in all, the new RS5 now comes to 1,655 kilos. Still anything but easy, but still a step in the right direction. Finally, the new RS5 is over seven inches longer than the old one.
Rear-wheel drive all-wheel drive
Audi also seems to have made some progress in driving dynamics (where the predecessor always seemed a little clumsy). At the front axle the new RS5 gets a further developed five-axle axle. At the rear there is also a five-bar construction. It replaces the old trapezoidal steering axle, which should benefit both agility and comfort. Via an eight-speed automatic, the power goes to all four wheels as usual. However, the force now spreads in favor of the rear axle. In the ratio 40 to 60, to be exact. If you want, you can get a sport differential at the rear axle for an extra charge. All of this should be appreciated by all people, who are looking for more rear-wheel-drive fun. And Audi has mixed under the official pictures even one, on which the RS5 is a lightning drift. Promisingly.
